El gobernador del Atlántico, Eduardo Verano, celebró la aprobación en segundo debate de las facultades para adquirir la emblemática Casa Meira del Mar, ubicada en el barrio Bellavista de Barranquilla. Este anuncio se dio en el marco de la clausura de las sesiones extraordinarias de la Asamblea Departamental.
La histórica vivienda, situada en la carrera 60 con calle 72-139, será transformada en el Centro Cultural Meira del Mar, un espacio destinado a exaltar la cultura e identidad Caribe, rindiendo homenaje a grandes figuras como Meira del Mar, Amira de la Rosa y Gabriel García Márquez.
“¡El Atlántico y Colombia contarán con el Centro Cultural Meira del Mar! Un espacio para preservar su legado poético y promover nuestra identidad cultural”, expresó Verano en su cuenta de X (antes Twitter), destacando este avance como un sueño hecho realidad para el departamento y la región.
Un nuevo epicentro cultural
El Centro Cultural Meira del Mar no solo honrará a la poetisa barranquillera, sino que también será un punto de encuentro para artistas, artesanos y la comunidad. La iniciativa busca fortalecer la formación en oficios tradicionales y promover la creatividad en el Atlántico.
La secretaria de Cultura, Verónica Cantillo, calificó esta aprobación como un logro significativo tras un arduo año de trabajo en equipo junto a la primera gestora social, Liliana Borrero. “Este proyecto no solo rescata la memoria de Meira del Mar, sino que también fomenta la formación y crecimiento de nuestros artesanos y talentos emergentes”, señaló.
Proyecciones para 2025
La puesta en marcha del Centro Cultural está prevista para mediados de 2025, consolidándose como un símbolo del compromiso del Atlántico con la cultura y las artes. “Esperamos que este espacio sea un motor de inspiración y formación para las próximas generaciones”, añadió Cantillo.
Con esta iniciativa, la administración departamental reafirma su propósito de preservar el legado de las grandes figuras culturales de la región y seguir construyendo un Atlántico que celebre su historia y diversidad artística.
