Al menos 13 personas LGBTI han sido asesinadas en lo que va corrido de 2025 en casos de “violencia por prejuicio” que han sido cometidos con “extrema sevicia y crueldad”, advirtió este jueves la Defensoría del Pueblo.
“La Defensoría del Pueblo rechaza el recrudecimiento de la violencia por prejuicio contra personas (con orientación sexual, identidad y expresión de género diversa) OSIEG-D LGBTI en Colombia. Tan solo en enero de 2025, se han registrado al menos 13 asesinatos con extrema sevicia y crueldad”, detalló el organismo.
De esos trece crímenes, cinco fueron cometidos en el departamento de Antioquia y dos en el Valle del Cauca. Registran un caso cada uno Bolívar, Cundinamarca, Norte de Santander, Quindío y Santander.
Las víctimas son seis hombres homosexuales, cuatro mujeres trans, dos hombres trans, una mujer lesbiana y una persona cuya identidad de género está por establecerse, según la Defensoría.
“Reconocemos los avances de la Fiscalía en la investigación de estos casos. Sin embargo, la impunidad sigue siendo un reto. Urgimos fortalecer las respuestas institucionales”, agregó el organismo, que pidió al Gobierno y a otras autoridades, particularmente a la Gobernación de Antioquia, convocar consejos de seguridad para evaluar esta situación.
Uno de los crímenes más recientes contra una persona LGBTI es el del periodista y excongresista colombiano Óscar Gómez Agudelo, quien fue asesinado a tiros el viernes pasado en la ciudad de Armenia, en el centro del país y capital del Quindío, cuando se dirigía a la emisora donde tenía un programa radial.
Tras este asesinato, la organización Caribe Afirmativo emitió “una alerta urgente, advirtiendo sobre el incremento de estos crímenes y la falta de garantías de seguridad, exigiendo al Gobierno Nacional y a las autoridades locales una respuesta inmediata para proteger la vida de las personas LGBTIQ+”.
