La Dirección General Marítima (Dimar) finalizó la instalación de la estación NAVTEX para el Caribe colombiano, localizada en la Escuela Naval de Suboficiales ARC “Barranquilla” (ENSUB), representando un avance tecnológico que optimizará las comunicaciones marítimas en el Caribe colombiano y salvaguardar la vida humana en el mar.
Esta tecnología integrará los centros de control y optimizará las transmisiones de información marítima crítica. Al tiempo que, responde con los más altos estándares internacionales establecidos por la Organización Marítima Internacional (OMI) y la Organización Hidrográfica Internacional (OHI).
El sistema NAVTEX o Servicio de Mensajería de texto para la Seguridad en la Navegación (NAVigational TEXt Messages por sus siglas en inglés), es un servicio automatizado de radiodifusión en frecuencia media, diseñado para transmitir información sobre seguridad marítima a embarcaciones de todo tipo que cuenten con un receptor NAVTEX. Fue desarrollado para ofrecer un sistema de bajo costo y fácil acceso para la recepción de información a bordo de los buques, incluso en alta mar, hasta una distancia aproximada de 400 millas náuticas desde el punto de transmisión.
Este proyecto de gran relevancia tanto a nivel nacional como internacional, asegura que las operaciones marítimas cuenten con un sistema confiable y moderno, fundamental para la protección de las embarcaciones y salvaguardar la vida humana en el mar.
La Autoridad Marítima Colombiana está comprometida con el fortalecimiento de la infraestructura marítima del país y el cumplimiento de los estándares internacionales.
