En respuesta a la severa emergencia ocasionada por intensas lluvias en Chocó, el Ejército Nacional, en coordinación con la Gobernación y la Unidad Nacional para la Gestión del Riesgo de Desastres (UNGRD), distribuyó más de 300 kits de asistencia humanitaria a familias afectadas en el municipio de Alto Baudó, uno de los sectores más impactados por las inundaciones y deslizamientos de tierra.
La situación ha dejado a más de 7,000 personas damnificadas, muchas de las cuales han tenido que refugiarse en los techos de sus casas ante el desbordamiento de los ríos. En este esfuerzo humanitario, el Ejército, junto con las autoridades locales, busca aliviar las difíciles condiciones de las familias, en su mayoría de bajos recursos.
En total, se entregaron 350 kits que incluyen alimentos, productos de aseo y otros elementos esenciales. Además, soldados del Batallón de Operaciones Terrestres N.° 26 permanecen en la zona para brindar apoyo continuo a los damnificados, quienes han perdido gran parte de sus bienes en medio de la emergencia.
